This piece is about a woman's longing to be set free from a lifestyle that may be materialistically wealthy but spiritually enslaved."Trapped in gold.. She cries each day..To spread her wings..And fly away" is the poem I wrote which is embedded in the painting.The woman's figure is seen in dull and heavy clay sculpted form, sunk into a cage where she has been imprisoned and then elevated on a smaller separate canvas which gives the illusion of her dream flight to freedom.. as a bird.
